Life Skills PSR Program for Children

Life Skills PSR Program for Children (4-17 years of age)

Through our Behavioral Health Community Support Services—offered in our Saturday, after-school, and summer programs—we provide tailored support to underserved communities, helping individuals develop essential life and coping skills to overcome challenges and enhance their overall quality of life.

Florida’s Medicaid Behavioral Health Community Support Services Coverage Policy offers “psychosocial rehabilitation services to restore a recipient’s skill and abilities necessary for independent living through the following activities.

  • Development and maintenance of necessary daily living skills.
  • Emotional regulation.
  • Food planning and preparation.
  • Money management.
  • Maintenance of the living environment.
  • Training in appropriate use of community services

Psychosocial rehabilitation services combine independent living and social skills training, housing services, pre-vocational and transitional employment rehabilitation training, social support, daily medication use, and network enhancement to recipients and their families.

Psychosocial rehabilitation services must assist the recipient with the following:

  • Eliminating or compensating for functional deficits and interpersonal and environmental barriers.
  • Restoring social skills for independent living and life management.

Psychosocial rehabilitation services can include the following to facilitate cognitive and socialization skills necessary for functioning in a work environment and maintaining independence:

  • Work readiness assessments.
  • Job development on behalf of the recipient.
  • Job matching.
  • On-the-job training and support.

Psychosocial rehabilitation services must concentrate on the amelioration of symptoms and restoring functional capabilities. They can be provided in a facility, home, or community setting.

Our program stands out for its unique ability to engage children and build strong rapport by offering a wide range of resources. These include interactive field trips, a safe and welcoming environment at our facility, and opportunities to develop valuable skills and experiences through collaboration with community partners. Additionally, we ensure children have access to nutritious meals and reliable transportation, prioritizing their overall well-being.
